Android Side Loading

Before I decided to upgrade to the iPhone4, I very seriously considered switching to the Android platform. After all, theĀ CC Terminal app has an android version now, and Timewerks has an android version in the works.

The one thing that stopped me was AT&T’s shackles they have around Android Market apps.

Just like they AT&T hobbled many features on the iPhone, they think they know better with the Android phones. That’s the beauty of Google’s platform versus Apple’s. You have almost an unlimited choice with the ‘Droids.

Well, now I’ve found the Sideload Wonder Machine. This Windows program allows you to load non-approved apps on even AT&T phones.

Might be time for me to reconsider. Maybe I should just switch back to Verizon?

  1. Rex,
I noticed the same thing with my Motorola Atrix (Android using “Gingerbread”). I used a root program called Superuser that allowed me to sideload non-AT&T-approved apps.
Just my $0.02. Hope it helps.
